Download Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (IE6 SP1)

Microsoft does not give you the ability to download the entire Internet Explorer 6 SP1 from their website. Instead they give you a 480 KB installer file namely ie6setup.exe that you can download. Please be informed that the download of the entire IE6 SP1 varies from 11 MB to 49 MB.

Before proceeding with the download of the entire Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1, perform the following steps:

1. Create a folder under C drive and name it IE6SP1_Full (The path will be C:\IE6SP1_Full).
2. Download the ie6setup.exe file from the following link and save it inside the IE6SP1_Full folder:

3. After the ie6setup.exe file is downloaded into the IE6SP1_Full folder, click Start and click Run.
4. In the Run dialog box, type the following:
(Note: Type in the following text as such or copy and paste the following text as you have to include all the quotes)

"C:\IE6SP1_Full\ie6setup.exe" /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"

5. Click OK.
6. A screen named "Windows Update: Internet Explorer and Internet Tools" appears, click on the "I accept the agreement" option and click Next.
7. In the next screen, you have to select the location for the IE6 SP1 to download and also you have the option of selecting the Operating System for which you want the IE6 SP1. (The options are Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP, and Windows Millennium).
8. Check mark the appropriate option or you may also check mark all to download the entire IE6 SP1 pack for all Operating Systems and click on Next.
9. The next screen is the downloading progress screen.

After the download is complete, you may burn the IE6SP1 folder onto a CD and install onto the computer that needs IE6 SP1.
