How to remove programs at startup using msconfig.exe in Windows XP?

You may perform the following to remove programs from the notification area in Windows XP:

1. Click Start and click Run.
2. In the Run dialog box, type msconfig.exe and click OK.
3. In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click the Startup tab.
4. Scroll down the list and clear the check box of any third party item you do not want to start automatically when Windows does.
5. Click OK.
6. Restart the computer and when prompted by the System Configuration Utility, verify that you understand that changes have been made.
